In this digital age, most turn to the Internet as a way to improve our lives, or so we are led to believe. In some ways, yes it does but it’s ultimately easier to just use pen and paper for something as important and simple as a restaurant booking diary.

  1. 1.It’s costly – Booking systems are so advanced these days that they become too costly for features you will never end up using. Why over complicate a simple system for an expensive price tag?
  2. 2.Minimal technical support – Most restaurants or bars use ‘out-of-the-box’ systems if they decide to use a booking system online, which can be used by paying on a month-by-month basis. With most software companies, support is very slim and you end up looking through a manual to help. If you decide to go bespoke, this cannot only be massively expensive, technical or general support can be very costly too.
  3. 3.Keep it simple – why over complicate a simple system?
  4. 4.Reliability – If the system breaks down for whatever reason, a lot of business can be lost. A whole history of data can be wiped.
  5. 5.Timely training – If a booking can be made over the phone, your staff will need to be trained to use the system.
